You always had the power my dear

Today I added the cover image of this post to my Instagram account (link above).

I'm using as many social media platforms as I can as vehicles to get my messages out to the world. I had to make sure there was a purpose for each platforms, and I chose IG as my inspiration page. This has kept me focused on finding sources of inspiration, which is really fun, and why I have the sign my daughter made hanging in my office; so I can stay inspired and encouraged, and then throw that inspiration back out into the universe.

How many of you grew up watching the Wizard of Oz? I’ve been watching it long enough to remember when it was only on tv once a year. I also remember being very afraid when those darn flying monkeys went after Dorothy!! And when my elementary school put on the musical for our 4th grade play, it was the first time I wasn’t chosen as the lyrical lead, but instead relegated to the chorus where I promptly caused trouble with my best friend Lauren.

"You've always had the power, my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself”.

Glinda

If Dorothy always had the power, it meant that she felt powerless until someone told her about the secret of the ruby red slippers. It took Glinda an exceedingly long time to let Dorothy in on this secret, but when she did, Dorothy learned she always had the tools to change her life within herself.

And Dorothy didn’t just arrive back home, she arrived an entirely new person. Now when she looked upon her Aunt, Uncle, and their farm, she saw a home, no longer a place she wanted to escape from. When she saw the farm hands, she saw a brave man, a smart man, and a loving man. Wow-who knew what being empowered could do for your relationships!

Empowered=Strength=Home=Love

Someone had to tell Dorothy she could stand on her own two feet, ruby slippers and all, to find her way back.

Whether the background is gray or technicolor, we all need reminders of how powerful we are.

We can change the landscape with the right people to lead and support us, before and after the storm.

What are your sources of inspiration? What helps you change the landscape that you can share with us here? Also, I’d LOVE to hear your WOZ story!

Big smiles and yellow brick roads,

Elisha
